George Chen’s China Live, the sprawling culinary compound on Broadway, opens at 11 a.m. today (March 14)., marking the first time since opening two weeks ago that the massive food hall will be open during the day. Going forward, the daily service will be available all day from the 11 a.m. opening until closing (10 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday and 11 p.m. Thursday through Saturday); restaurants dinner service begins at 5 p.m. nightly.
The extended hours represent just another step in what’s going to be a months-long rollout of all that the $20 million project will have offer. The second floor, where Chen’s upscale restaurant Eight Tables and the Gold Mountain Lounge will reside, is expected to come online in coming weeks (though it could be later).
China Live’s lunch service will have a similar feel to the dinner service, which has been rolling since March 1: everything from Chinese charcuterie and barbecue to stir-fry, dumplings and dim sum, noodles, among other things. –San Francisco Chronicle (3.14.17)
