Eight Tables by George Chen
Above Chinatown’s bustling China Live restaurant and market, there’s a serene escape in the form of Eight Tables, a fine-dining restaurant based on the private chateau cuisine of China (called si fang cai). Restaurateur and chef George Chen based the restaurant on dining experiences in homes of the elite in China, and he spared no expense in its design. The multi-course menu ($225) includes luxurious versions of Chinese dishes like foie gras dumplings, and har gow with caviar. If excellent dumplings and a much lower bill are more your thing, stay downstairs for lunch or dinner at China Live. – Eater San Francisco (03.01.18)
