Popular modern Chinese food emporium China Live to open a location in Seattle next year

San Francisco’s popular Chinese food emporium, China Live is set to open its second location in Seattle early 2021. China Live offers everything from a retail market to an interactive dining experience, all centered around exploring Chinese cuisine. The emporium will set up shop on Amazon’s campus in South Lake Union, but you don’t have to be a techie to enjoy their pan-fried dumplings, Peking Duck and applewood smoked ribs.

Co-founders George Chen and Cindy Wong-Chen will use the weekly-changing menu to emphasize the Pacific Northwest’s natural bounty of seafood and natural produce. Ingredients will be sourced from local farms, fisheries and ranches.

“We look forward to bringing something different to Seattle’s thriving culinary culture and to showcasing the finest sustainably produced artisanal Asian food as well as unique beverage offerings to a new, enthusiastic audience,” said Chen.

You’ll be able to watch those local ingredients being fried up at the several open kitchens scattered throughout the restaurant, showcased with fiery woks and slow-cook clay pot stations. The interactive culinary experience aims to educate foodies about the intricacies of Chinese cuisine. And for those of you who like to pair your dumplings with beer, you’ll find a selection on-tap at the bar. There will also be a variety of other libations like kombucha and hard soda.

The space will also include a retail area, featuring artisanal products like house-made condiments, spices, teas, snacks, produce and more. Plus, you can use your recent meal as inspiration for some DIY action, with cooking techniques being streamed as you shop for your cutlery.

“Our Retail Market offerings are meant to inspire culinary exploration,” says Wong-Chen. “Our goal is for our customers to bring a piece of Chinese culinary culture into their own homes by showcasing exclusive products that have been personally selected by me and George from our travels in China, Asia and beyond.”

China Live will be located at the corner of 8th Ave and Lenora. The restaurant will be open from daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and the retail market and cafe and bar will be open daily from 8 a.m. to midnight. – seattle refined (02.17.20)
